A flight out of BWI had a bit of Snakes on a Plane with hints of Arachnophobia earlier this week. The flight from Baltimore to Atlanta was delayed after a tarantula got loose on the aircraft.

After getting a sense that something didn’t belong, an employee spotted the tarantula in the cargo hold. A Delta spokeswoman told CNN that it was found in a cargo shipment of insects that was “breached.”

The spider was captured before it made its way to the cabin, but the flight crew decided it was time to switch planes. After all, there could’ve been additional eight-legged creatures.

“We have to make the safe decision on that — being bitten by a tarantula is not a good thing,” the pilot told CNN.
