Baltimore may be the town of Charm City Cakes, but there’s a new kid coming to town, to the Ivy Bookshop to be exact. Buddy Valastro, known worldwide as the Cake Boss, has a new book out, Cooking Italian with the Cake Boss, and he is coming to the Ivy on Sunday, December 2, for a book signing at 12 noon. Valastro, the star of the hit TLC reality show Cake Boss, is a fourth generation baker from Hoboken, New Jersey. The show is filmed at Carlo’s Bakery, the 55,000 square foot business owned and operated by his parents, where Buddy and the staff turn out thousands of wedding cakes, specialty cakes and pastries each week.
But Buddy knows how to make more than just desserts. His new book features classic Italian dishes and old-school tips passed down through generations. Buddy guides even novice cooks from appetizers through more complicated dishes, and all the recipes use affordable and easy-to-find ingredients.
Filled with full-color photography and stories from the Valastro clan, Cooking Italian with the Cake Boss shows another side of Buddy and teaches home cooks how to become the bosses of their own kitchens.
Meet Buddy Valastro on Sunday, December 2 at 12 noon at the Ivy Bookshop, 6080 Falls Road. Visit the Ivy Bookshop website for more information.
