When Major Media Outlets come to Baltimore, they focus on beehives and quirk; when they go to Frederick, they marvel at how such an “unsophisticated working-class town” can nonetheless have fancy restaurants.
But all snark aside, the new foodie scene in Frederick is an exciting development, and the Times offers a helpful rundown of the key players in town. There’s plenty of talk about Top Chef alum Bryan Voltaggio’s Volt, of course, but there’s also mention of a couple other restaurants, a local brewery, a chocolate shop, and that fancy olive oil/vinegar store with all the free samples.
Have you taken a food-centric field trip to Frederick? Was it worth the drive?
