Caribbean restaurant Bahama Breeze permanently closed its Towson location on Wednesday. And it took everyone by surprise.

The restaurantโ€™s communications manager told the Baltimore Sun that the closing was a โ€œvery carefully and thoughtfullyโ€ made decision, having to do with the Towson Circle redevelopment project. Despite the care and thought, it appears that employees found out at the very last minute.

A couple Twitter users who claim to have worked there vented their frustration and tongue-in-cheek relief:

Rip Bahama Breeze ~ Iโ€™ll miss hating to work there

No one believed me when I said Bahama breeze was a crazy place to work.. Andddd now they shut down

The communications manager promised that โ€œeveryone on the Towson team [is being offered] the opportunity to join other Darden restaurants in the area.โ€ Intensive social media sleuthing has turned up a Tweet consistent with that scenario:

Lost my job at bahama breeze today only to be given a better opportunity at an upscale restaurant #blessings
