Our country’s president-elect is planning a trip to M&T Bank Stadium this Saturday for the annual Army-Navy football game, and it appears he plans to uphold presidential tradition by divesting himself of his business interests switching seats between halves to support both teams.
Trump’s transition team told USA Today he has diplomatically chosen to sit on one side of the stadium filled with Army fans for the first half and the opposite side of the stadium reserved for Navy fans for the second half. His recent predecessors did the same — President Obama in 2011 at FedEx Field in Landover, Md., and President George W. Bush in 2001 at Veterans Stadium and in 2004 and 2008 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
Baltimore is playing host to the matchup between the two military academies for the second time in three years. This is the 117th game between the teams. It airs on CBS this Saturday at 3 p.m.
The trip will mark Trump’s first trip back to Baltimore City since he came here for the National Guard Association’s convention in September and stopped in Dundalk for a bite. This time around, he may think twice before making an impromptu excursion for the purposes of avoiding any conflict. While he has his supporters here, Baltimore City voted overwhelmingly for Hillary Clinton last month, and Baltimoreans have shown they’re not shy about getting out in the streets to show their true feelings about Trump.
Regardless of what happens, even if it’s only an appearance rather than a speech or another more public engagement, Trump is sure to be a spectacle at the game. Perhaps Navy will be able to use all of that distraction to their advantage while pursuing a 15th consecutive win over Army.
Please try to keep your political views out of your articles. You would do better just sticking to the facts, unless you just want to cater to Democrats.
I guess Army can keep their mule home at West Point since Trump will be there to fill in.
