As we reported yesterday, an early morning fire destroyed Baltimore’s beloved Book Thing, the best spot in town to pick up books for free. But that wasn’t the only non-profit that suffered serious fire damage yesterday.
Sharp Dressed Man is an organization that helps provide professional clothing to men returning from the workforce after experiencing homelessness, incarceration, or other life challenges. Just a few hours after a fire of undetermined origin destroyed the Book Thing, Sharp Dressed Man’s executive director received a call informing her that the organization’s building was on fire. Fortunately, no one was hurt in either conflagration–but two great organizations are closed for the foreseeable future, and face an uphill battle to rebuild.
