A scintillating and soulful circus is making its way to Baltimore County later this summer, with more than a dozen new acts.

UniverSoul Circus will bring its new “Rhythm of the World” production to Security Square Mall from Aug. 14 through Labor Day, Sept. 1. Featuring performers from five continents, the show combines circus acts, theater, and live music, with genres ranging from R&B, Latin, hip hop, jazz, gospel, pop, and world music.

“Our Rhythm of the World production celebrates not only the world’s top circus performers, but also the unity of people from all walks of life,” said UniverSoul Circus founder and CEO Cedric Walker in a statement. “It’s a powerful reminder of the universal values of love, respect and togetherness.”

Tickets will go on sale to the public June 27, but people can sign up for the waitlist now for early access.

UniverSoul describes itself as “not your grandfather’s circus,” providing a show that audience members of all ages can enjoy. Interactive portions include playing a game of Simon Says, dancing during Swag Surf, participating in a Soul Karaoke spotlight, and joining a kids dance contest.

As part of this new show, acts will feature an Ethiopian Pole Act with performers spinning and posing on a tall pole; a ballerina act in Power of Love; contortionist Kefeni; and the Morning Doves, an aerial lyra duo from Mongolia and Ethiopia.

Audiences will also enjoy performances from the African Dream hoop divers from Addis Abba, Ethiopia; a teeterboard act, also from Ethiopia; the Dominican Republic strong-man hand-balance duo Double Vision; Russian acrobatic act Zhukau Swing; and the Soul Skaters, a Cuban-Caribbean dance party and acrobatic skating troupe who count Usher among those they have performed for.

The circus will also bring back audience favorites, like the Caribbean Street Carnival with 20-foot dancing puppets, fire-breathing stilt dancers, and more; hip-hop dancers Fresh the Clowns; and the Wheel of Death stunt artists performing daring dives and flips.

Performances will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays; noon, 3:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays; and noon, 3 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. on Sundays. The final performances on Labor Day will take place at noon and 4 p.m.

Tickets will be available at Ticketmaster.com, starting at $25.

Circus performances will be held under a big top tent at Security Square Mall, located at 6901 Security Blvd. in Woodlawn.
