Baltimore’s booze-making scene is exploding so much that it’s also heading to the seas.
According to CBS Baltimore, the USS Constellation in Baltimore’s harbor is also housing a distillery for rum. It’s a perfectly historically accurate use for the ship, which had sailors that used to be paid in rum.
The Tobacco Barn Distillery in St. Mary’s County is providing the rum, which was loaded this week despite the cold weather. Workers are really committed to being historic, even hoisting the rum onto the ship with ropes and pulleys. In six months, it’ll be hoisted again and ready to drink.
