Wealth Summit Live, an event designed to bridge the gap in financial literacy within Baltimore’s marginalized communities, will take place from July 19-21 at the Baltimore Peninsula.
Founders Raven Paris and Tony Parker have enlisted financial and entrepreneurial heavy hitters to help them inspire, educate, and equip attendees with the tools they need to achieve financial success. Keynote speakers include Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings of Earn Your Leisure, a news and media platform dedicated to collaboration and community, and Imani Ellis, the founder of CultureCon, a community conference for Black creative professionals and entrepreneurs.
“To build generational wealth you must first be exposed to it. Our mission is to bridge the wealth gap within the minority community by connecting them to financial education and different resources,” Parker said in a press release. “Not only will attendees gain insights and strategies for business and financial growth, but they’ll become a part of a supportive community that understands the unique challenges and aspirations of minorities.”
The mission of Wealth Summit Live is to empower people seeking generational wealth — something historically denied to minorities, and especially Black people in America, foster collaboration, education, and mentorship, with an emphasis on positive change and economic growth.
The wide-ranging group of experts and panelists include D Watkins, editor at Salon, Simone Phillips, creator and founder of Charm City Table, Paul Gardner, attorney known as The Contract Doctor, Tiffany Veney, founder of Madison Street Build and Design Group LLC, and many more.
In addition to workshops, a vendor marketplace, panel discussions, and brand activations, there will be a VIP crab feast, a Movie Night After Dark, and an Earn Your Leisure (EYL) Podcast Live.
Wealth Summit Live has partnered with over 50 Black-owned businesses to increase brand awareness and revenue. Paris and Parker are focused on the importance of financial literacy in minority communities and its impact on economic empowerment. Sessions will cover topics like wealth management, career advancement, entrepreneurship, and more.
“At the heart of it all, Wealth Summit Live is about helping every person in Baltimore–and beyond–discover and unlock their true potential,” Parker said in the press release. ”In order for us to ignite change in our community, we must take risks and actually invest in our community by curating experiences such as the Wealth Summit Live because the investments that I put into my community now, set up a richer future for my two daughters and son.”
Their hopes for attendees go beyond financial, however. Their aspirations for the weekend event are to integrate cultural and community elements to nurture belonging and spark inspiration among those who attend.
Demonstrating a commitment to investing in Baltimore’s community and its youth, Wealth Summit Live has collaborated with the Baltimore Workforce Development Board to provide on-site job opportunities for youth, and offered 500 youth tickets with the help of its sponsors.
