West North Avenue residents will play a role in the future of transportation in their neighborhood at the WNADA design meeting on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. โ€“ 12:30 p.m. The meeting takes place at Fleurs dโ€™Ave.

The West North Avenue Development Authority (WNADA) is partnering with Graham Projects and Open Works to host a Community Design Pop-up to discuss transportation along West North Avenue. Transportation plays an essential role in every community, providing access to jobs, schools, and entertainment venues.

The meetingโ€™s focus will be the Transit Access and Pedestrian Safety Improvement (TAPSI) Project for the intersections of West North Avenue at McCulloh Street and Druid Hill Avenue. Residents can learn about the TAPSI program, provide feedback, have a say in the budget, and help finalize the artwork design.

Activities include โ€œDesign Your Own Pavement Art,โ€ and the first 10 art submissions will receive a free Fleurs dโ€™Ave bouquet; visualizing and feeling the streetscape improvements with a touchable 3D model made by Open Works; discussion about residentsโ€™ preferences for beautification and streetscape elements; and visiting with neighbors, business owners, and friends. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.

The West North Avenue Development Authority supports the development and approval of a comprehensive revitalization plan for the neighborhoods along the West North Avenue corridor. WNADA aims to โ€œimprove housing, neighborhoods, economic development, and transportation, including motor vehicles and pedestrian foot traffic to catalyst equitable economic development opportunities throughout West Baltimore which has been hindered by a history of disinvestment,โ€ according to its website. It is the economic development authority for the State of Maryland to benefit Coppin State University and the neighborhoods of West Baltimore.

Saturdayโ€™s WNADA Community Design Pop-up meeting takes place at Fleurs dโ€™Ave, located at 1200 W. North Ave., Baltimore, MD.
