The year 2018 will thankfully have some new Wye Oak. And even though vocalist/guitarist Jenn Wasner and percussionist Andy Stack donโ€™t live in Baltimore anymore, their music will always have a special place here.

Earlier this week the duo announced their fifth album, โ€œThe Louder I Call, The Faster It Runs,โ€ due out April 6 on Merge Records. Along with it came the release of the title track, an ascending synth-pop track that piles on layers and sees the band building on the experimentation from 2014โ€™s โ€œShriek.โ€ Listen below.

According to a release, Wasner and Stack would spend a week at each otherโ€™s homesโ€“hers in Durham, N.C., his in Marfa, Texasโ€“to work away in the studio. And the shorter stints resulted in a more assured sound.

While there are no Baltimore dates scheduled for Wye Oakโ€™s upcoming tour, weโ€™ll let you know as soon as that (hopefully) changes. Their closest show is a May 11 appearance at the 9:30 Club in D.C.
