In anticipation of the release of new album “The Louder I Call, The Faster It Runs,” due out April 6 on Merge Records, Wye Oak has shared another single from the record, the billowing song “It Was Not Natural.”

Turns out the lyrics for the bounding indie-pop track were inspired by a stroll through the forest. Here’s what singer/guitarist Jenn Wasner said in a release: “This is a story about finding an object of uncertain origin whilst walking through the woods. Or, if you’d rather: It’s about exploring the space between the things that we are socialized to believe about ourselves, and the actual truth of our nature—learning how to push the limits of the systems we’ve put in place to help ourselves make sense of chaos.”

Wasner and multi-instrumentalist Andy Stack are set to play South by Southwest next month and will then hit the road for an international tour starting in April. There’s no Baltimore stop yet, but hopefully that will change soon.
