Through focus on breath, voice, and energy centers in the body, you’ll be able to experience your natural voice. Through out-loud meditation, learn to speak your truth, even when it hurts. Learn to approach difficult conversations in a nonreactive, honest way, while staying centered in the body. Learn to witness the changing sensations in your body as you speak and remain grounded, even when experiencing sensations associated with anxiety, anger, or sadness. Using tools from the school of soulful communication and basic North Indian classical singing, this workshop is intended to bring yoga off the mat and into the art of healing relationships.

Anjali was originally certified to teach through the Sivananda Yoga Dhanwantari Ashram in Kerela, South India, and has continued study through the Sivananda organization, her home base, as well as dozens of other yoga schools and seminars. Of these, she has been most influenced by Anusara Yoga, mindfulness meditation, Ayurveda, and Soulful Communication. She has been a private student of Guruji Hasu Patel in Hindustani Music (North Indian Classical Singing) for the past 12 years and is beginning to share basic breath and vocal workshops in the community. She’s also certified in prenatal yoga with Janice Clarfield and as a children’s yoga teacher through YoKid. She’ll soon complete certification in AcroYoga, a unique blend of yoga, acrobatics, and Thai massage cofounded by Jason Nemer and Jenny Saur Klein. In addition to the yoga centers, she teaches regularly in ashrams, private homes, adult learning programs, public schools, and federal detention centers, and has raised funds for pilot studies in Yoga for the Blind (Wilmer Institute) and The Drepung Gomang Monastery. Every year she coordinates a group of monks ordained by His Holiness the Dalai Lama on their tour of Maryland to raise money for the Drepung Gomang Monastery in South India, home to Tibetan refugees. Her life mission is to create opportunities to explore our human potential and use yogic and mindfulness-based spirituality to create a sense of greater peace and ease for individuals and communities.
