No matter how many times this kind of thing happens, it is always a shock. In the early morning of Jan. 14, Baltimore Sun editor Jon Fogg was walking from his car to his Canton home when he was attacked and robbed of his wallet, laptop, and car keys. Before fleeing in Foggโs car, the unknown assailant beat him repeatedly in the head with a landscaping brick.
The attack left Fogg with โsix skull fractures, eight to 10 missing and damaged teeth and four broken fingers,โ according to his website. (You can tell this man is a newspaper editor; even with multiple skull fractures and both hands in splints, he adheres strictly to AP style.)
Foggโs family has set up a fundraising webpage to help cover his extensive medical bills. Foggโs own website asks that anyone with a tip, or who saw a suspicious person near Foster and Conkling streets in east Canton last Monday night, call Baltimore police at 443-938-2265. Foggโs car is a silver 4-door 2009 Prius. License plate: 5ES T20.
UPDATE: โStay Classy Cantonโ has organized a fund raiser for Jon. On February 5, 2014, you can dine at any one of the restaurants listed on its webpage and a portion of the proceeds will go toward Jonโs Recovery Fund.
