The numbers are in: this winter is going to be colder than last. Of course, you probably could have guessed that after last yearโs cold season, almost surreal in its wimpiness.
So maybe itโs okay that Decemberโs average temperature is going to be 38 degrees โ four degrees colder than in 2011 โ because it means the crazy climate change death spiral is spiraling a little more slowly than it had previously appeared.
And, yes, this means that if you heat with gas your bill will be more expensive โ 11 percent higher, on average. But, again, given last yearโs ski-resort-thwarting mildness, heating bills will be โthe second lowest in a decade.โ
