For the follow-up to their look at the cityโ€™s food scene, USA Today is branching out to the rest of Baltimoreโ€™s offerings. They even gave us a fancy graphic this time.

The travel tips in โ€œAn Insiderโ€™s Guide to Baltimoreโ€ were provided by Doug Murphy, a Baltimore Life Companies exec who lives in Tennessee, and โ€œmakes it to the Baltimore area once or twice a month.โ€

Shoutouts are mostly of the downtown variety, including Pickles Pub, the Rusty Scupper and Rams Head Live. Murphy also gets a word in for some places that could probably use the PR, like the endangered volleyball courts of Inner Harbor (โ€œA lot of locals go there.โ€), and public transit in the form of the MARC train (โ€œIt takes you from the airport.โ€).

Phillips gets the shortest end of the stick. โ€œโ€ฆItโ€™s got a big presence in Baltimore. But thereโ€™s nothing special on the menu,โ€ Murphy writes.
