For the follow-up to their look at the city’s food scene, USA Today is branching out to the rest of Baltimore’s offerings. They even gave us a fancy graphic this time.
The travel tips in “An Insider’s Guide to Baltimore” were provided by Doug Murphy, a Baltimore Life Companies exec who lives in Tennessee, and “makes it to the Baltimore area once or twice a month.”
Shoutouts are mostly of the downtown variety, including Pickles Pub, the Rusty Scupper and Rams Head Live. Murphy also gets a word in for some places that could probably use the PR, like the endangered volleyball courts of Inner Harbor (“A lot of locals go there.”), and public transit in the form of the MARC train (“It takes you from the airport.”).
Phillips gets the shortest end of the stick. “…It’s got a big presence in Baltimore. But there’s nothing special on the menu,” Murphy writes.
