After getting postponed last September, Remfest is returning this spring.
Organizers announced that the popular Remington festival will be held on May 11 from noon to 9 p.m., on Remington Avenue between 27th and 29th streets.
Remfest is one of two community celebrations that were postponed or cancelled last year in part due to scheduling conflicts with Artscape 2023, which was held Sept. 22 to 24. The other was Hampdenfest, which was cancelled. In both cases, organizers said the scheduling conflict with Artscape was a contributing factor to their decisions. In 2024, Artscape will be held in early August.
The Greater Remington Improvement Association (GRIA) produces Remfest, with help from a variety of sponsors and partners. The first festival was held in 2017, followed by events in 2018, 2019 and 2022.
โRemfest is Remingtonโs annual street festival, with music, local vendors, food and fun for all โ taking over Remington Ave. for two blocks and bringing thousands out to enjoy all this neighborhood has to offer,โ said David Goldman, Director of Residential Leasing for Seawall, in a company announcement about the 2024 event. Seawall, a development company active in Remington, is a founding member of GRIAโs planning committee for the event, along with businesses such as B. Willow and Ottobar.
This year, Goldman said in his message, โthe team is firing on all cylinders and is planning for bigger and better than ever before: a main stage of musical acts curated by the best at Ottobar, a new โfamily stageโ in the R. House parking lot with kids-specific programming, 100+ local makers set up on Remington Ave., and delicious food from many local restaurants.โ
Remfest was always supposed to be a spring festival, but the advent of COVID-19 and issues related to permitting caused the 2022 event to be held in the late summer, said GRIA board member Jed Weeks. โWeโre aiming to keep it in Spring going forward,โ he said in an email message.
More information is available at remfest.org, Additional details about stage lineups, sponsors and vendors will be announced closer to the event on the remfest website and on Facebook and Instagram.

Thatโs good news ! Is the city going to be able to supply police and DPW support? I know that it hasnโt been something Mayor Scott was able to provide for Hampdenfest in the past.
The Mayor recently totally screwed over the BPD in their contract. (they rejected it) But I am sure the RemFest will be covered. Gonna be a lot of fun.
And now Artscape is moved to August, the same time as the Reservoir Hill Resource and Music Festival. It was always the first Saturday of August, now Artscape is going to affect it.
