There’s a new way to take a stroll for a good cause. The first-ever Baltimore Brain Tumor Walk is set to be held this weekend.
The walk, hosted by the National Brain Tumor Society, is slated to step off at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, in Canton Waterfront Park. Post-event festivities will begin at 10:45 a.m. ABC2 anchor Jamie Costello is set to emcee.
More than 2,000 people are expected to participate. Organizers are aiming to raise $100,000 for research to help treat and prevent brain tumors.
Recent scientific discoveries may offer us targets for new, more personalized treatments for brain tumor patients. And with a new spotlight on cancer of all kinds because of the ‘Biden Moonshot’ and precision medicine initiatives, we feel the future may be brighter for brain tumor patients,” said David Arons, chief executive officer at the National Brain Tumor Society.
