Robicelli’s Bakery in Brooklyn is beloved for their decadent, inventive treats– Nutella lasagna, chicken and waffle cupcakes, s’more pudding, just to name a few. Their carrot cake was rated the best in New York City by Zagat. If all that is making you both drool and start planning a trip to New York, sit tight — Robicelli’s is planning on relocating to Baltimore in the near future.
The move to Baltimore was inspired by a common sentiment among New Yorkers these days–namely, that the city is growing so expensive it’s increasingly hard to make a living there. Baltimore seemed like a perfect fit: “The town is completely electric. There is an optimism and a spirit of innovation that I haven’t felt in damn well near forever,” Allison Robicelli told the Baltimore Sun. As fate would have it, they were already making a Baltimore themed treat: The Baltimore eggnog pie (”Baked eggnog custard made with Maderia, brandy, and rum; topped with toasted Italian meringue”).
The family hasn’t officially announced an opening date or a location for their Baltimore bakery (though they have already scouted a commercial kitchen where most of the baking will be taking place), but expect to hear more in early 2016.
