Baltimoreans who find themselves simply walking through life can shake it up this weekend at Waterfront Partnership’s Baltimore by Baltimore festival, “Dancing Through Life” on Saturday.

This month’s waterfront music and maker festival is produced by CJay Philip, artistic director of Dance & Bmore, an ensemble that fuses live music, movement, and spoken word. More than 25 dance groups will perform at the largest gathering of Baltimore Dance companies in over a decade.

Saturday’s Baltimore by Baltimore festival will celebrate Baltimore dance, choreography, and intergenerational artistic community. The lineup includes the Full Circle Dance Company, Baltimore Salsa Dance Company, Keur Khaleyi, HKL Korean Dance Company, FazaFam Family Jam, Baltimore Folks Music Society with Square Dancing and more.

September’s event will also spotlight Baker Artists Sole Defines, DAB Ensemble and Elders “Celebrate Your Light,” Judah Adashi, Elizabeth Evitts Dickinson, Von Vargas, Heather Rounds, and Villager and Five O’Clock Co.

Baker Artist Awards were established by the William G. Baker, Jr. Memorial Fund and are part of the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance to celebrate the Baltimore region’s creativity. Winners are given prize money and profiled in a Maryland Public Television (MPT) Artworks special.

The festival will also include a variety of other makers and vendors for attendees to enjoy, including Perfectly Lit Candles, Four Eleven Finds, Stitch’d, Cultivated Creations, Check Engine Vintage, Happy Little Paper Company and more.

For those September crab cravings, Charm City Crabs will be on hand (or claw). And if Baltimore’s September heat kicks in, artisan ice pops from C.M. Pops will cool off dancers during a break. There will also be desserts from Winter’s Sweet Tooth, drinks from Bar Movement and more.

Baltimore by Baltimore is a series of monthly festivals that run every year from June to October on the first Saturday of each month. Organized by Waterfront Partnership, the series began in 2022, with the Inner Harbor serving as the backdrop for Baltimore’s leading artists, makers, creatives, and musicians showcasing the city’s diversity and talent.

“[E]ach festival features a different local producer who selects the best representation of artists and makers in their network to curate a one-of-a-kind experience that fills the Inner Harbor with locally produced goods, music, art and food, and amplifies the vibrant and inspiring arts and culture community from across the entire city,” reads the press release.

The Baltimore by Baltimore festival is free and open to the public. It takes place at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater, located at 201 E. Pratt St., Baltimore, MD. It runs from 12 pm to 8 pm on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024.

The festival offers discounted parking at  Harborplace Premium Parking Garage at 101 S Calvert Street. Use the app or book online for garage 2331. (Guests/visitors will use the code “BXB24” for $10 parking for up to 12 hours.)

The festival will go on rain or shine.
