The most recent polls show Donald Trump with a sizable lead as we close in on the Maryland presidential primary on April 26. But the guy’s recent comments almost sound like he’s trying to throw the race.
At a rally in Maryland last night, Donald Trump dropped his quarterback friend‘s name yet again, calling the Patriots player — and Ravens enemy — “great.” The crowd, predictably, erupted with boos.
“We love Tom Brady, right?” asks Trump. Maryland crowd, full of Ravens fans, boos loudly.

On the one hand, I appreciate the thorough tone-deafness of Trump’s remark– is he trolling? Or just not paying attention to who he’s talking with? On the other hand, there’s something depressing about the fact that race-baiting comments and a long history of misogyny didn’t get Trump audiences to boo, but mentioning a player from the wrong football team will.
