On Saturday, November 12, supporters of Baltimore City’s Mother Seton Academy (MSA) will have a chance to do some good, while having a good time.
That evening, the 10th annual Mother Seton Academy Wine Harvest & Auction will take place in McGuire Hall at Loyola University. Hosted by MSA and Loyola’s Center for Community Service & Justice (CCS&J), the party will feature excellent hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and wines. MSA and CCS&J have partnered with the Belvedere Square wine bar and shop Grand Cru and the Maryland Wineries Association, to ensure the wine selection will be both local and noteworthy.
The evening also includes live music and a silent auction featuring a fabulous array of prizes, from Ravens Club Level seats to local wine tasting sessions and Disney Park Hopper passes.
The money raised during the evening will fund a scholarship to support students at MSA. Mother Seton Academy, located on Greenmount Avenue, is an independent Catholic middle school that is tuition-free. The school teaches over 75 students in grades 6 through 8, both boys and girls, who come from urban, low-income families of all faiths and cultures.
The school’s mission, to educate young men and women of economic need, in a multicultural environment, promoting dignity and respect, helps turn out students who are leaders within their communities. All students receive a tuition-free education at MSA, making events like the Wine Harvest & Auction critical to the success of the school.
The Wine Harvest & Auction “gives us a chance to share with our friends and supporters the good work being done at Mother Seton and to do some good for the kids entrusted in our care,” says the school’s president Sr. Peggy Juskelis.
Plus, she adds, “We have a good time!”
