I’m not sure how rosy Frank Zappa’s cheeks were when he was alive, but I’ve got to say he makes a pretty good Santa, judging from the photo above.

If you don’t recognize the statue above, it’s the Frank Zappa statue in Highlandtown, all gussied up for the holiday season. The act of creatively decorating public spaces with knitwear is called yarn bombing, and Highlandtown likes the look so much it actually provides its yarn-bombers with free supplies at no cost. “We took a few balls of yarn and turned it into something fun – and opened the community’s eyes into what’s becoming a lost art,” one of the yarn bombers told Fox Baltimore shortly after the “Fleecing Frank” tradition was completed. Now, who’s going to put a cap and beard on that Poe statue?
