After cheering on your favorite team, you and every other fan flock to their cars to drive home. Cue: major traffic congestion.

But after this Sunday’s Ravens game, Baltimore’s transportation department will test a new post-game traffic pattern they hope will improve the traffic flow, reduce congestion, and minimize traffic delays in neighborhoods around M&T Bank Stadium.

Here’s what Ravens fans (and other motorists traveling through the area) can expect Sunday afternoon.

As with previous games, two eastbound lanes will exit Lot H onto West Street.

Both of those lanes will continue eastbound on West Street and turn right onto Hanover Street.

Hanover Street will operate with two southbound lanes between West and Wells streets. Baltimore police officers and the Baltimore City Department of Transportation’s Transportation Enforcement personnel will be on hand to manage traffic.

There will be no changes to existing intersection closures and the northbound traffic detour at Wells Street.

Motorists will be prohibited from parking during stadium events at the following locations:

  • About 14 parking spaces in Residential Permit Parking Area 30 on the north side of West Street from Race to Hanover streets.
  • Both sides of Hanover Street on the south leg of the intersection with W. West Street. This includes Residential Permit Parking Area 30, one loading-zone space on the west side, and two Residential Permit Parking spaces on the east side.

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation and Baltimore Police Department will monitor traffic conditions during the pilot period to evaluate how effective it is and determine whether similar adjustments should be in place for future events at the stadium.
