7 Goodale Place, Homeland, Baltimore.
Hot House: Sweet Cottage in Homeland! 3 Bedrooms/3 Bathrooms. 1,830 Square Feet. Asking price: $639,000.
What: When Homeland and Guilford were being developed, the designers wanted to have small “places” and “courts” that were neighborhoods within the main neighborhood. These are like self-contained enclaves. My last Hot House was an example in Guilford, and this week, we have one in Homeland.
Goodale Place is home to seven similarly-designed houses in white brick and board-and-batten construction, which provides cohesion among them. Number seven is set back from the street, and is entered through a set-off foyer with a convenient window seat and closets for coats and boots. As you enter the house, you see a spacious living room, with bump-out windows, a wood-burning fireplace and a capacious number of bookcases! The current owners must be huge book-lovers! There are bookcases everywhere in the house.

Heading towards the rear of the house, you will find the dining area, adjacent to a light-filled and recently remodeled kitchen with marble counter-tops, stainless appliances and a large center island.

As you move outside, there is a deck with a pergola which provides shade from the afternoon sun.

There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the second floor. The primary bedroom has an en-suite bath and two large closets. The other two bedrooms share a full bath. In the basement, there is a recreation room, which could become a guest room, an office, or a work-out space. There is also a large utility/storage space with another full bath.

The house comes with a one-car garage, plus a dedicated parking space in the rear, plus on-street parking on Goodale Place.
Where: Goodale Place is just off Goodale Road, which begins on Charles Street and curves around to end on Paddington Road. It is immediately north of Notre Dame and Loyola Universities. The house is within short walking distance of both the Cathedral School and Friends School. It’s a quick drive to York Road with the Senator Theatre and the up-coming Trader Joe’s!

Final Appraisal: If you want to live in Homeland, but do not want a massive house and a big yard, this might be the perfect place for you. The listing for the house is here.
