From beer to wine to burgers, this week offers a lot of fun for Baltimore food lovers. Here’s a look at what’s coming up:
Fells Point Oyster Fest
Fells Point’s annual Oyster Fest is back from Sept. 11-13. Throughout the weekend, Broadway Square will play host to fun vendors, live music, and lots of oysters courtesy of Kooper’s Tavern. On Saturday, the Oyster Recovery Partnership is hosting a shucking contest to crown Baltimore’s best shucker.
Happy birthday to Das Bierhalle
Das Bierhalle in Parkville is throwing a big block party on Sept. 12, in honor of eight years in business. The event includes lots of games, live music, and is kid- and dog-friendly.
Oktoberfest season starts
It might only be mid-September but Oktoberfest celebrations are starting to kick off.
This weekend, Sept. 12 and 13, Nepenthe Brewing’s annual party returns with deals on beers, food specials, a photo booth, costume and stein-holding contests, and more.
Josefina x Blvck Svm
On Monday, Sept. 14, Josefina is collaborating with the rapper Blvck Svm on a cool dinner featuring a six-course menu inspired by the rapper’s album michelinman. Blvck Svm, who is heavily inspired by the culinary world. created michelinman during a year of immersion in the kitchens of fourteen different restaurants across North America.
Week of vino
Wine lovers – especially those with a special interest in Italian wines – have a lot to look forward to this week, as several spots are hosting fun wine dinners.
Tuesday, Sept. 15, Cece’s showcases the wines of Sicily and Sardegna during a meal featring courses like a stone fruit salad and lobster risotto.
On Wednesday, Sept. 16, The Manor Tavern welcomes Chiara Damilano, a fifth generation winemaker from Italy, for a multi-course meal dubbed “Barolo & Truffles,” including dishes like grilled octopus paired with a 2024 from the Langhe region of Piedmont.
Thursday, The Milton Inn hosts Giovanni Frascolla, the owner of Tua Rita in Tuscany, for a meal highlighting the special nature of the wines.
John Brown x ZaVino
On Thursday, the team from John Brown General will pop up at ZaVino in Cross Keys for an outdoor BBQ. The John Brown crew will serve bacon burgers with some special sides, along with caramel apple cider and other drinks. ZaVino will offer their full menu – plus there will be music and general festivities.
Italian American Night at Hersh’s
Also on Thursday, Hersh’s is bringing back its popular Italian American night, with its menu of classic Little Italy-style favorites.
