The first tomatoes of the season are appearing on menus around town.

From tall ship excitement to the first tomatoes of summer, this week is a fun one in Baltimore. Hereโ€™s a look at whatโ€™s coming up in the restaurant world:

Openings & announcements

A new brunch spot, Sunday Social, is slated to open in South Baltimore in mid-July.

Dangerously Delicious Pies is closing its Hampden store โ€“ its last physical storefront โ€“ on Sunday. The pie company will continue to sell at farmersโ€™ markets around the area.

Love, Pomelo is now opening at 4:30 p.m. from Tuesday through Sunday, and will host โ€œAperitivo Hour,โ€ including specials on snacks and drinks, until 6:30 p.m. each day.

Sail250 events

Baltimoreโ€™s Sail250 events are officially underway โ€“ so keep an eye out for sailors, the Blue Angels, and lots of excitement at restaurants and bars and along the waterfront.

If youโ€™re downtown on Friday, June 26, stop by the Seafood for Thought Stage around noon to catch the crab soup cookoff, featuring entries from 200 Monroe Restaurant, Classic Catering, Girl in the Kitchen, Hook & Vine, Jimmyโ€™s Famous Seafood, Lord Baltimore Hotel, McCormick and Schmickโ€™s, Pendry Baltimore, Phillips, Rouge Catering, Royal Sonesta Harbor Place Baltimore, and Soul Man Sweets. If youโ€™re there, please find me at the judgeโ€™s table to say hello!

On Saturday, the Fells Point Farmerโ€™s Market in Broadway Square is operating as usual โ€“ which means lots of great vendors with the extra bonus of a view of the tall ships.

Star Bright Supper

On Sunday, The Milton Innโ€™s Chef Chris Scanga will be at Star Bright Farm for a luxe outdoor summer meal. The dinner, which is part of the To the Table Supper Series, also features live music from Chris Jacogs and Patrick Rainey, drinks from Dodon Vineyards and Pickett Brewing, and oysters from Fallen Pine Oyster Co.

Sally Oโ€™s at Baltimore Taphouse

On Monday, the Sally Oโ€™s crew will pop up at Baltimore Taphouse with a casual menu of three sandwich-and-sides boxed meal options. The pop-up is the first in a new series โ€“ on the last Monday of each month, the Taphouse will team up with a local chef or restaurant.

Photos at Petit Louis

On Tuesday evening, Petit Louis will be staging a photo shoot to use in future marketing. If youโ€™re interested in being part of it, make a reservation to dine at the Roland park bistro that night.

Tomatoes are back

Seasonal tomatoes are just starting to make their glorious return onto menus around town.

At Silver Queen Cafรฉ, theyโ€™re fried and potentially paired with a Spanish G&T.

Charlestonโ€™s tomatoes are also fried and matched with buffalo milk mozzarella, arugula, and saffron.

The Milton Inn serves tomatoes in a salad with goat cheese, red onion, and cucumber.

Josefina puts tomatoes front and center in a beautiful pan con tomate topped with a Spanish anchovy.
