The sun is out and Baltimore restaurants are ready for a week filled with late spring flavors and fun. Here’s a look at what’s coming up:
Openings & announcements
Slycen Dyson, a new BBQ spot in Parkville, officially opens on June 5.
CRAVE, the spot formerly known as Waffle-Licious, opened a new location on York Rd. in Towson on May 28.
Baltimore County cocktail lovers got great news this week, when Governor Moore signed a bill allowing County bars and restaurants to sell to-go cocktails, which became popular during the COVID era.
Bunny’s is back
You may have heard that last week, a car drove into Bunny’s Bubbles & Buckets, damaging the building and wreaking some general havoc on the restaurant. Though Bunny’s did have to temporarily close, they are back up and running – and fortunately, no patrons or staff were hurt in the accident.
Festival weekend
This weekend’s festival lineup is a strong one, with both the Greek Food, Wine & Culture Festival at Annunciation Cathedral and the Feast of St. Anthony in Little Italy.
Plus, it’s the final weekend that the Inner Harbor’s Wine Village is open – so if you’ve been meaning to get there this month, now is your last chance.
Now hiring
On Monday, June 1, the group behind Woodberry Kitchen, La Jetée, and Bar Dali is hosting a job fair at Chop Chop in Hampden. In addition to meeting with potential employers and hearing about opportunities, attendees can take advantage of complimentary knife sharpening and sample snacks, including oysters and panisse.
Rye Street Tavern giveaway
Rye Street Tavern is giving away a $100 gift card to the restaurant to someone who interacts with its Instagram account (in specific ways). The winner will be announced on Monday, June 1.
Late spring flavors
As the weather (finally) warms up for real, restaurants are showcasing all the ingredients of the season.
At The Corner Pantry, cucumbers get the chilled soup treatment and are served with savory toast topped with ricotta, lemon, and anchovies.
Charleston’s menu includes a short-time-only asparagus soup topped with crumbled goat cheese from Vermont.
Magdalena is also putting asparagus at the front and center of multiple dishes, along with seasonally-available fish and bright herbs.
At True Chesapeake, asparagus is also on the menu – grilled and bathed in orange hollandaise.
Not only does Of Love & Regret have a handful of new sandwiches on the menu, they are also making their own bread, including an herb-studded focaccia.
Kneads Bakeshop will officially launch its summer menu items on Monday, June 1 – get ready for lots of produce and fun flavors.
Love, Pomelo is celebrating the season with a gorgeous strawberry and rosé spritz.
At Union Hill, the late spring menu includes an ahi tuna dish served over cucumber salad.
