Here’s a tip, readers: If your so-called “doctor” has no credentials an “office” that’s just a room in some basement in Queens, maybe think twice about allowing her to do medical procedures on you.
That’s the takeaway from the sad story of Kelly Mayhew, a Maryland freelance journalist, who died after a fake plastic surgeon botched a silicone butt injection. After the injection, Mayhew struggled to breathe; her mother began frantically administering CPR while the “doctor” — not licensed — fled the scene.
“Illegal injections with silicone and hydrogel can cause severe damage, and even death from infection and embolism,” cosmetic surgeon Dr. David Matlock told People magazine. “These injections maybe cheaper, but as they say, you get what you pay for, and sometimes a person pays with their life.”
The police are still looking for the doctor (allegedly) responsible for Mayhew’s death.
