A pair of entrepreneurs from Silver Spring want one of Marylandโs medical marijuana growing operations to be in Baltimore, according to the Baltimore Sun.
Healthy Choice Alternative LLC wants to renovate a vacant warehouse into a growing and processing facility for medical marijuana. The location wasnโt disclosed. Pharmacist Ali Askari and โpatient advocate and cancer survivorโ John Phillips are behind the company.
The company applied for one of the 15 licenses that the state will issue to such growing operations via the Maryland Cannabis Commission.
As the stateโs Nov. 6 deadline approaches, growing operation proposals are budding in places like Hagerstown, but this is the first evidence of a proposal for Baltimore City. Meanwhile, Anne Arundel County is wrestling with whether or not to go along with the medical marijuana program and attendant regulations.
