The National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners is moving its headquarters from Pennsylvania to downtown Baltimore.
The nonprofit organization oversees policies, development, and examinations for podiatric medical licensing across the United States.
Formerly located in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, the board’s headquarters will occupy an approximately 1,700-square-foot space at 250 West Pratt St., Suite 620. Its proximity to the Baltimore Convention Center will also make it a prime location for medical organizations gathering in Baltimore.
“We chose Baltimore for its strategic, centralized location, proximity to other podiatric medical organizations, its convenience to major travel hubs, and range of hotel and restaurant options,” said Dr. Oleg Petrov, president of the national board, in a statement. “We look forward to being a part of the Baltimore community and professional ecosystem for many years to come.”
Maryland is also home to the American Podiatric Medical Association, the Council on Podiatric Medical Education, the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine, and the Federation of Podiatric Medical Boards.
The podiatric board’s Baltimore office will be used for the organization’s daily operations, quarterly board and committee meetings, and examination development workshops. Other podiatric organizations and committees will also be able to use the office for meeting space.
