Pleased with yourselves, Animal Collective?

BWI continues its run as an unexpected hotspot for new music. After WTMD’s monthly baggage claim concert series, one band with Baltimore roots is debuting its new album at the airport on the busiest travel day of the year.

According to Stereogum, Animal Collective’s new album is playing over the loudspeakers at the airport as travelers look to beat the Thanksgiving rush. This wasn’t a full reveal. The album will actually be released on Monday, and all we know so far is that one single is called “Floridada.”

The identity of this mysterious anti-muzak leaked after Matt Baetz, a cousin of band member Avey Tare, posted on Instagram that the album was playing. Tare then responded, “You found us?” Baetz later wrote that the album can be “heard best in the bathrooms, some observation areas pre-security and the big lounge after security.”

Like travel delays, Animal Collective’s BWI preview is only temporary. Baetz later wrote that the music is set to end at 6 p.m.

BWI is the latest local landmark in the Animal Collective orbit. Band member Panda Bear named a song “Boys Latin” on his most recent solo album, and one of the band’s most beloved albums is called “Merriweather Post Pavillion.”
