Today’s lifestyle messages about self-care make sense: Slow down. Be mindful. Relax. Stretch. Unplug. Eat well. But the challenge is often, where to begin? Consider the new Yoga Gallery & Wellness retreat, conveniently located in Towson. The studio offers yoga, Barre exercise and meditation workshops with beginners in mind.
“A lot of people have dreams that they haven’t realized. My dream was to help people. I founded the yoga studio to inspire people who don’t know where to start,” said Amy Weglein, founder of Yoga Gallery & Wellness.
Opened in the fall of 2016, Yoga Gallery & Wellness is in Towson near the intersection of Kenilworth Drive and Charles Street. The wellness retreat offers Hatha and Vinyasa Flow yoga classes, Barre exercise classes, meditation workshops, and massage therapy.
“My brother passed away before his time and that experience helped me put my life into perspective. I became a yoga instructor and focused on mindful practices in my own life,” said Weglein.
What’s different about Yoga Gallery & Wellness is that Weglein designed the yoga and meditation workshops with beginners in mind. The schedule includes classes made for people new to yoga with classes and workshops that start at the right pace with the right training.
Weglein understands what many beginner yoga students may need because she has been a registered nurse in critical care for 27 years. She also spent many years helping seniors in home health care.
“Because I spent so many years in nursing, I realized that people could heal quicker and sustain better health when they added yoga, meditation and relaxation techniques to the usual doctor’s list of cleaner living.” added Weglein.
