Peter Angelos has been dipping a toe into horse racing in recent years, but it seems the Orioles owner will never forget his first love.
Last year, Angelos had a horse named Markakis. But with Nick Markakis now playing for the Atlanta Braves (Sorry for the reminder) and a new racing season, Angelos turned to the bullpen…err…dugout.
Since Davis would be apparently be taking the lucky horse idea a little too far this year, Angelos named his new horse Showalter after the much-loved Orioles manager. In his pro debut over the weekend at Laurel park, this bucking Showlater (sorry) wound up victorious. Looks like it was close.

According to the Baltimore Sun, the two-year-old horse earned $29,640 for the run. It’s not enough to sign all of the Orioles free agents, but it’s something.
