Patterson Park is being seriously redeveloped for the first time in nearly 20 years, which is great news–except that the park’s new look might not include one of its most fun features, the ice rink.
The Baltimore Business Journal points out that the preliminary redevelopment plan calls for tearing down the Mimi DiPietro Family Skating Center and putting a recreation center in its place. (The plan also calls for improved lighting, more infrastructure, and vegetation restoration, among many other things.) According to officials, the rink would be “relocated” to some as-yet unspecified location in the city.
The skating rink is generally open between October and March. City residents can share their feelings about this plan at the next open meeting about the park’s redesign on June 24.
Does anyone know when and where the open meeting is to be held?
Ice skating is a Caucasian and Asian activity that doesn’t belong in Baltimore, it’s a Howard County thing. Plenty of Ice rinks in surrounding counties. This section of Patterson Park should be developed into dirt bike and ATV courses. Lets give those dirt bike riders a wonderful place to ride and get them of the streets.

This is a joke, right?
