In September, Kennedy Krieger Institute will host the areaโ€™s first fully accessible and adaptive pickleball tournament open to all skill levels, aspiring and experienced alike.

On Saturday, Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., โ€œPickleball for Allโ€ will welcome players of all ages and abilities for a daylong tournament that includes a beginnerโ€™s clinic, division play for recreational and competitive levels, and adaptive pickleball matches with mixed teams of adaptive and nonadaptive athletes. People can sign up alone or with a partner, they just need to be at least 16 years old.

Proceeds from โ€œPickleball for Allโ€ will benefit Kennedy Krieger Instituteโ€™s adult adaptive sports and recreation program. The program began in 2012, aiming to demonstrate that people of all abilities should have the chance to lead active, healthy, and independent lives.

Each year, the program serves nearly 150 adaptive athletes and recreation enthusiasts who enjoy lots of activities, like handcycling, wheelchair lacrosse or bowling, and others.

The โ€œPickleball for Allโ€ tournament will be a round-robin style with semi-final and final matches. It takes place at Dill Dinkers Pickleball Club – White Marsh, located at 140 Merritt Way, White Marsh, MD. Registration is required, and begins at $35. Teams are encouraged to help fundraise, and prizes will be awarded to the eventโ€™s top fundraisers!

Registration ends on Saturday, Sept. 6.
