Guy Fieri can’t seem to get enough of Baltimore. Not only did he open a restaurant at Horseshoe Casino and talk up our crab cakes; he’s featuring a bevy of Baltimore eateries on his Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives show. Last week, the show featured Fells Point English/Irish pub Sláinte. And on Nov. 28, the show will take viewers to Baltimore institution Swallow at the Hollow.
I can only imagine that Swallow — with its welcoming atmosphere despite its strong dive-bar vibe — will do well on the show. It has a certain vintage charm that is hard to fake, and that authenticity is just the kind of thing DDD viewers will appreciate.
Of course, owner Aaron Reinhart hopes that Swallow’s menu — which includes no frozen food — also gets some notice. “You have cole slaw from scratch, french fries from scratch, the crab cake from scratch, burger from scratch,” he told WJZ.
And if you’ve ever wanted to see what Swallow at the Hollow’s logo would look like with spiky, platinum blond hair, you may be in luck. Reinhart honored the host with a bowling shirt featuring a Fieri-ized beer-chugging swallow. Hopefully that makes it into the show.
