Congratulations, Maryland: Your birth control just got cheaper.
The average Maryland resident with disabilities earns $4 an hour, less than half the state’s $8.25 minimum hourly salary. But thanks to a bill recently passed by state lawmakers, Maryland will soon be the second state in the country (after New Hampshire) to phase out what’s known as “subminimum wage” for workers with disabilities.
As of yesterday, Maryland became the first state in the country to enact strict new rules aimed at ending discriminatory profiling by police.
Thanks to a measure that Martin O’Malley signed into law back in May (but that didn’t go into effect until yesterday), it’s now easier for undocumented immigrants in Maryland to get driver’s licenses.
