Ben Carson got roughed up at a Trump rally. Well, not the real Ben Carson.

Larry David and Bernie Sanders got all the attention on the weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live, but it wasn’t complete without a Barbie from Baltimore. On Weekend Update, Kate McKinnon played “Sturdy Barbie,” who didn’t quite make the cut when Mattel rebooted the age-old doll collection.

SNL Uses Empty Orioles Game to Spoof Baltimore’s Week

Screen Shot 2015-05-03 at 12.18.01 PMSince Baltimore has been the subject of many SNL skits over the last year and the entire city was in watching TV on Saturday night anyway, the question became not if SNL would choose to send up the week’s events, but how they would go about it.

SNL Imagines “The Wire” Set in Brooklyn, And It’s Hilarious

snl parody

Has anyone else been noticing how Saturday Night Live has totally been killing it these days? That Serial parody was hilarious; now the show has decided to tackle The Wire and New York hipsters in the same skit–and the results are as funny as you’d hope they’d be.

SNL Tackles NFL, Ravens in Season-Opening Skit

prattSNLSaturday Night Live’s season premiere was timed to fall on the eve of Sunday’s Ravens-Panthers game. Since both teams have players who have been accused in domestic violence incidents, the NBC sketch comedy specialists used the opportunity to lampoon the NFL, and the massive fallout triggered by the release of video showing ex-Ravens star Ray Rice punching his then-fiancee Janay Rice in an Atlantic City elevator.

SNL Visits Maryland: Seth Meyers at Stevenson on Sunday

We all have our natural talents.  Michael Phelps is intrinsically aquatic, Penelope Cruz in unfairly beautiful, and Seth Meyers is inherently hilarious.  Meyers began his comedic career in college at Northwestern where he was a member of the improv group “Mee-Ow.”  From there, he went to do comedy in Amsterdam, drawing the attention of the Saturday Night Live producers.  After five short years with SNL, he advanced through the ranks to become a lead writer and a co-anchor for the popular Weekend Update segment.  Having written and costarred with comedic geniuses such as Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Andrew Steele, Meyers is no stranger to greatness.  He’s spoken at the White House, and probably has the only humorous video up on the CSPAN YouTube account.

      Happy Veteran’s Day, “Homeland” Fans

If you happen to love the CIA-centered Showtime show “Homeland,” readers, you might love this sketch every bit as much.

Many smart critics are raving about Anne Hathaway’s “Saturday Night Live” hosting gig this weekend — and I couldn’t agree more. The “Homeland” bit’s dynamite, if you know the program, with Hathaway broadly mimic-mugging Claire Dane’s nearly over-the-top, come-and-go cry-fests to a T. Nasim Pedrad meanwhile nails “Dana,” Bill Hader kills as “Saul,” the cork-board cameo scores, and “Carrie’s” beloved jazz makes an interesting appearance.
