Trash Wheel Fan Fest: Trashbusters! is on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Peabody Heights Brewery.

Get ready for some trashy, ghostly fun because it’s time for the annual Trash Wheel Fan Fest, and the theme is “Trashbusters!”

The Trash Wheel Fan Fest takes place on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Peabody Heights Brewery. The event celebrates Baltimore’s favorite garbage-guzzling heroes: Mister Trash Wheel, Captain Trash Wheel, Professor Trash Wheel, and Gwynnda the Good Wheel of the West.

Fans are invited to channel the spirit of the movie Ghostbusters with a trash-busting twist (tie?). Dress up as a “Trashbuster” or a “Garbage Ghoul”, wear your favorite Trash Wheel couture, or combine the two cultural icons in your own creative way!

Need a little insider info (okay, from the website) about the Trash Wheels?

Mr. Trash Wheel lives in the Inner Harbor, enjoys pizza boxes, pythons (and they like him) and dislikes single use plastics, among other things. He turned 10 years old in May 2024. He also has a secret society, The Order of the Wheel, but don’t spread that around.

Professor Trash Wheel is a little younger, at nearly 8 years old and lives in Harris Creek in Canton. She likes women in science, Beyoncé, and dislikes the patriarchy.

Captain Trash Wheel lives in Masonville Cove in Baltimore, likes bird watching and the beneficial reuse of dredge materials, while sedimentation and gender-specific pronouns tend to grind his gears.

Gwynnda, the Good Wheel of the West lives in Gwynns Falls. Just because she is the baby of the family at only three years old doesn’t mean she has immature opinions. She likes large spiders, Erykah Badu, Wicked (the musical), and Hermione Granger. The Salem Witch Trials, plastic bottles, and falling houses dampen her mood.

Guests at the Fan Fest will enjoy a night of fun where they’ll get to view incredible Trash Wheel fan art, create googly-eyed crafts, play googly-eyed games, and be served all-you-care-to-drink beer. There will also be ghostly beats and classic hits spun by DJ Eddible. There will be snacks from local food trucks, and guests will be able to shop Trash Wheel merch from Baltimore in a Box.

The Trash Wheel Fan Fest: Trashbusters! will raise money for brand new booms for Professor Trash Wheel and gather support for a Maryland bottle bill. Proceeds will also benefit the Waterfront Partnership’s Healthy Harbor Initiative, which works to restore the Baltimore Harbor and ensure that it continues to be an environmental, educational, and recreational resource for the residents of Baltimore City.
