What is it that makes this video by Baltimore dance group the Effervescent Collective just so perfectly summery? Is it their crop tops? Their pastel shorts? The comfy sneakers? The rolling around in the grass? The skatepark setting? All of the above?
Director/choreographer/editor and all around dance goddess Lily Kind describes the video, which took nearly a year to make, as “a love letter to B’more.” And as far as love letters go, this is a bittersweet one; after years of excellent performances in Baltimore, Kind heads west this fall to start an MFA program in dance at Cal Arts. We’ll try to carry on some of her infectious enthusiasm ourselves.
