One of the best parts of warm summer weather is getting to cool off with a cone or cup of ice cream. This Sunday, July 17, is National Ice Cream Day. In fact, all of July is National Ice Cream Month.

In honor of National Ice Cream Day and Month, we’re sharing a 2018 video from Maryland Farm & Harvest about an ice cream plant in Laurel that produced products for Nestlé.

Ice cream manufacturer Froneri in 2020 took over Nestlé’s U.S. ice cream businesses, including Dreyer’s, Edy’s, Häagen-Dazs, and more. But the Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream plant in Laurel continues to produce ice cream.

Maryland’s Best has also assembled an Ice Cream Trail of 10 dairy farms that make fresh ice cream. Ice cream lovers who complete the trail by Sept. 30 and submit photos taken at each of the 10 creameries will be entered into a drawing for the title of 2022 Maryland’s Best Ice Cream Champion Trailblazer, a $50 gift certificate to the creamery of their choice, and more.
