What's In Store: Chatting with Bridget Stickline, Wee Chic at Green Spring Station

Bright. Fun. Energetic. That’s how Bridget Stickline, owner of Wee Chic Boutique, describes her store.

But beautiful and vibrant don’t always make the cut, no matter how stylish. When dealing in kids’ clothes, Bridget says her number one criteria is quality and feel.

“I have seen beautiful pieces, but if the fabric is rough or the seams are not properly stitched I will not add them to our collection.”

With a careful eye, Stickline and her team curate a collection of modern clothes, toys, gifts and gear that are beautifully designed and durable. Ironically, vintage is modern this spring.

“Retro tropical is happening in boys and girls,” said Bridget.  “So many fun, surf inspired fabrics and whimsical iconic treatments. This is happening in women’s too. If you buy nothing else for Spring, pick up something with a pineapple print!”

Bridget took us on a stroll of her store and pointed out some of her favorite finds for spring. Here’s what she picked and why she loves it.

Kate Spade Kimberly Dress
$188.00 | sizes 8-14

“The Kate Spade Kimberly dress is the epitome of the Kate Spade New York line. It is the crown jewel of the children’s debut line — so it’s a bit of a splurge (the rest of the line comes in under 100.00) but it’s so beautifully tailored that it is worth every penny.”

Toobydoo Dresses
$66  |  size 3/6 month -8 year

“We picked up the very first collection from Toobydoo and we have been hooked (along with our clients) ever since. The designer’s European roots give the classic line a modern twist that fits our mix perfectly.”

Under Armor Boy
starts at $18  |  baby – size 7

“We are so proud of this Baltimore based success story. We offer the line from baby to size 7 and love the empowerment messages for both boys and girls. It’s been a number one gift choice with our clients with styles starting at $18. It’s perfect for birthdays and super cute for new Baltimore babies.”

Balloon Dog Money Bank
$65

“Jeff Koons made a huge splash when his balloon dog sculpture became the highest grossing modern art piece ever sold. We love when function and design meet and marry. Our balloon dog is a money bank and is quite a bit smaller than the original but it is perfect for modern baby gifts (we’ve sold lots to adults too) at $65.”

Maaji Swimwear
$66

“Maaji is a swimwear line out of Columbia, South America. The quirky print mixing has made it a favorite with tweens and moms alike. Many of the pieces are reversible and the fabric quality is top notch. Add to that the fact that Maaji develops all of their intricate, signature prints in house and you have a really special line.”

Stay tuned… Wee Chic is launching new tween photo mini sessions called Best Friends with photographer Kakki Morrison (classic mini photo sessions with Laura Black are back this spring, too!). They’re also looking forward to a new partnership with The Baltimore Child Abuse Center that will offer education for tweens and parents about safety on social media. Keep up with them on the web, Facebook and Instagram for more details.
