Combining a chili cookoff with some local music is usually enough to provide motivation to head to Towson on a Saturday. To provide a little extra get-up-and-go, WTMD is kicking it up with a little more.

The station’s Rock and Roll Chili Bowl is set to bring chili masters from 12 states together to see who has the best version of the old favorite. In all, more than 30 entries are expected, and four of them are world champions. Since the event is sponsored by the International Chili Society, they are competing to head to the world championships in the fall.

But on a summer Saturday afternoon, the eaters will be the side beneficiaries. The event starts at 5 p.m., and is $20 for all you can sample. Music is provided by Amy Helm and the Handsome Strangers.
