Attention all pickleball players! There’s a busy season of tournaments and events lining up just for you beginning in May.

Baltimore residents are increasingly drawn to the sport, which was invented in 1965 and initially introduced to children through physical education teachers in schools. The No. 1 ranked pickleball player in the world is from Maryland: Ben Johns from Gaithersburg, Maryland.

The Pickleball House opened indoor courts in Middle River in December 2023, allowing enthusiasts to play throughout the winter. Now that temperatures are warming up, players will likely be gravitating outside, and Pickle Me Silly! has a list of tournaments and events they’ll want to know about.
