Whenever Baltimore made it onto one of those “best cities for singles” lists, I felt confused. Those rankings did not jibe with my personal experience–but hey, maybe I was just unlucky. But a new Forbes article has cleared up some of my confusion: It turns out that Baltimore is great if you’re single… and a heterosexual man.
Indeed, Baltimore is Forbes’s #1 top pick for “best cities for single men.” We snagged that top spot thanks to a host of factors, including median income and date affordability. But the main reason Baltimore is so great for single men is that there are a whopping 124.7 women (!!!) for every 100 men. (Of course, those numbers aren’t written in stone; other studies have come up with a different list of cities. But everyone pretty much agrees that there are more single women than single men around town, by a long shot.)
Forbes also claims that Baltimore is the #4 city in the country for singles in general–but with a sex ratio that far out of whack, I’m not sure that’s a fair assessment.
