This coming Saturday marks 30 years in business for Little Italy’s Da Mimmo Restaurant. As anyone who works in the volatile restaurant industry knows, surviving three decades is something special. To celebrate the big occasion, the owners and staff at the Italian eatery have planned throughout the month special events around the number 30. On Saturday, January 11, Da Mimmo will offer the original 1984 menu with 1984 prices. Mary Ann Cricchio, who runs the restaurant, will wear the original dress she wore on opening day, January 11, 1984, and everyone who comes to the restaurant in his or her best 80’s outfit will receive a $30 gift certificate to be used at a later date.
Da Mimmo serves dishes from every region in Italy including the rich cream sauces of the north, found in dishes like Lobster Tettrazzini, as well as the southern marinara sauces found in Zuppa di Pesce, and Mussels Posillipo. Over the years, DaMimmo has become renowned for its Veal Chop alla Florentina, a two-inch thick, butterflied, and charbroiled veal chop prepared with garlic, rosemary, sage and olive oil.
Other birthday specials the restaurant will offer throughout the month:
Sunday, January 12th to Friday, January 18th – Da Mimmo will offer a three course meal for $30.
Sunday, January 19th – Thirty percent of your dinner will be donated to Associated Italian-American Charities.
Wednesday, January 22nd – Veal Chop Day. Da Mimmo’s signature dish, usually priced at $48, will be $30 all day.
“Grazie mille to all of our loyal supporters who have made the past 30 years reality,” says Mary Ann. “Hope to see you all in January!”
