Norwegian Air isn’t just for flying to the Land of the Midnight Sun anymore. The airline is the latest low-cost carrier to move into BWI. Later this year, Norwegian will begin offering flights to the French Caribbean.
On Dec. 3, the airline will begin offering direct flights to Guadeloupe and Martinique twice a week. If you’ve never heard of either of those places, the quick primer is that they’re island regions of France with awesome beaches where the locals speak various Creole dialects. The islands draw a lot of tourists from European France.
Norwegian also offers low-cost flights to Europe, so the airline’s entry could set the table for more flights in that direction, CEO Bjoern Kjos told Reuters. Iceland is already covered, so they better act fast.
