The last time I was in the Las Vegas airport, I lost $2 on a slot machine. It was not a particularly thrilling experience. If all goes according to one legislator’s plan, soon travelers passing through BWI may have the option to lose a similar (or even larger!) amount of money.
The state legislature will soon vote on a proposal to install 3,000 slot machines in BWI–which is, incidentally, more than twice as many slots as there are in Las Vegas’s McCarran airport. The money would be used to fund transportation projects.
But don’t start saving your quarters just yet: The bill has been proposed a half-dozen times in the past, and it’s never gone through.
